doula: a childbirth professional trained to provide non-medical support during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
NEODC was formed by a group of passionate volunteers devoted to helping families in need get off to the best possible start.
The support of a doula has been shown to decrease health risks during childbirth and postpartum recovery. For women and families facing economic difficulty, extra support during the childbearing year can make a vast difference in maternal and neonatal outcomes–yet the families most in need of this support are least likely to have the resources to afford it.
Our volunteer doulas are dedicated to helping low-income families navigate the challenges that arise throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. We’re committed to providing unbiased support and skilled companionship to all families we serve, regardless of their background or situation. And we’re honored to join each woman and family throughout the childbearing year to support their health, happiness, and well-being.
